Buckwheat and Carrot for Babies
Buckwheat’s strong flavor is balanced here by sweet carrot. Some babies will love this on its own as a main course; others will prefer it as a side dish.

PREP TIME: 5 mins, plus overnight soaking
COOK TIME: 25 mins
2 tablespoons buckwheat
1 teaspoon plain yogurt or kefir
1 carrot, quartered lengthwise and sliced
1 Put the buckwheat, yogurt, and ¾ cup warm water in a small saucepan and let soak, covered, for at least 7 hours or overnight.
2 Add the carrot, cover, and bring to a boil over high heat. Reduce the heat to low and simmer, covered, for 25 minutes. Let cool slightly, then serve warm. If desired, transfer the mixture to a blender (letting it cool completely first if using a blender with a plastic container), then blend for 1 minute until smooth before serving warm, reheating if necessary.
